BISHOP'S MESSAGE
My Dear Ward Friends,
The plan of redemption is founded on two vital principles: revelation through prophets that make known to us our Savior and the conditions of repentance upon which he can redeem us (Alma 12: 33), and Christ’s atonement that looses the bands of physical death, blots out our transgressions, and succors us in our suffering (Alma 7: 11-13). I am so grateful to have a living prophet that reveals to us the mind and 4will of our Heavenly Father, that the love and mercy of the Savior can fill our lives.
I was deeply inspired by President Nelson’s message to the youth of the church and all of us that have made sacred covenants with the Lord. He stated: “You—my dear extraordinary youth—were sent to earth at this precise time, this most crucial time in the history of the earth, to help gather Israel,” the prophet said. “There is nothing happening on this earth right now that is more important than that. There is nothing of greater consequence. Absolutely nothing. This gathering should mean everything to you. This is the mission for which you were sent to earth.”
I loved President Nelson’s definition of what qualifies as Gathering Israel. He said, “Anytime you do anything that helps anyone—on either side of the veil—take a step toward making covenants with God and receiving their essential baptismal and temple ordinances, you are helping to gather Israel. It is as simple as that."
I invite each of us to read and ponder the following prophecy of Nephi as it relates to our prophet’s vision of gathering Israel and our personal part in that gathering that inspired me so much as a young missionary: 1 Nephi 14: 12-14.
I invite each of us to accept President Nelson’s challenge to gather Israel by doing three very simple things each day in our personal prayers: (1) pray for each person in your ministering families by name. I promise that as you do that personal revelation will come to you on how you can strengthen them in keeping their covenants; (2) express in your prayers a desire and willingness to share your testimony with others—when I have done this in my life Heavenly Father has sent to me those that were prepared to hear my testimony, often in miraculous ways; and, (3) pray to know the best way for your personally to get involved in family history and temple work.

MISSION CALL
Sister Ann Brown received an 18-month mission call to the Utah Salt Lake City Headquarters Mission. Her primary assignment is to labor in the Missionary Department as an Exhibits Division senior missionary coordinator. Her mission starts October 1st. Ann said the following: "I am bursting with joy to have this privilege and responsibility. For 44 years I looked forward to serve as a senior missionary ever since I was a missionary in Brazil Sao Paulo North Mission 1974-1976. May the Lord bless us today and always."MISSIONARY UPDATE
Elder St. Clair’s mission in Cambodia has really been a life-changing and amazing experience for him. Khmer, the language in Cambodia is a challenge in and of itself and took Elder St. Clair the bulk of a year to be able to use. Isaac has had amazing and wonderful companions that have taught him a lot! His current companion is Elder Richards, the younger brother of Sister Dayna Magleby in our 7th ward! They are serving in Battambang, Cambodia, a town out in the beautiful Cambodian countryside. The missionaries, including multiple other sets of elders and some sisters, ride bikes in Battambang and have visited crocodile farms and bat caves on P-days.

Here is his letter:
This week went well. We finally sorted through all our potential investigators. And we had three investigators at church. Their names are Chomrong, Vit, and Nil. Chomrong is still doing well. He's having really good experiences with prayer and the spirit. An elder that served here two years ago came and visited and shared his testimony of the Holy Ghost. When Chomrong heard what he said, he turned to me and asked "Have you ever felt that way?" I'm so excited that he has real desire. He wants to know so badly.
Vit is the eight year old grandson of a member. His mom isn't around, so his grandma is basically his mom. This is a pretty common situation.
Nil is a new investigator, but he came to church and he literally knew ALL the members. Miracle.
We have a large amount of investigators, but some of them aren't coming along as quickly as we would like. We're working toward it though! They're getting there.
Also, we met a famous Khmer boxer. His name is Kev Rom Chong. He is a potential investigator. Every time we try and go meet, though, he's exercising. He runs two hours every day. I thought it was a joke when I was told he's a boxer. He's a buff dude, and he speaks great English--but I didn't believe it until I asked other people. Literally, everyone knows him. He's way famous. And he's my investigator!. God is blessing us. I love Battambang.
